“REBELS ON WHEELS”

Rev. Phillip “BLADE” Smith

Testimony

I started out in my young life singing solos for God in the church.  I loved Him but in the late 1940’s and the early 1950’s,I wanted nothing to do with God or Jesus or even love.  I became a self-made heathen.  My heart was calloused and I was demonically controlled.  I didn’t love anybody and I hated everybody.  Especially  law enforcement officials.  I rode with motorcyclists and fought with street toughs.  I was nicknamed “BLADE” and I also carried weapons.  There seemed like there was no hope for me, or for my “insanity”.  I constantly had evil thoughts and my only sanity was playing sax and singing in nightclubs.  I had many “lost weekends of violence.”  I fought all the time.  My hands are still scared where I used to put my fist through plate glass windows.  I was full of anger and I drank heavily. Jesus found me in this “state” and through a “Damascus Road experience” where I was blinded and my fists were bound twice to keep me from killing a Christian in a factory where I worked, and through a supernatural “cloud” falling on me at a church in Ohio in 1955, I was saved, delivered and transformed!

After 48 years in the ministry as a Pastor, evangelist, missionary, author, gospel recording artist and a film maker and also a brief prison ministry, in June 2004 I was diagnosed with cancer in its 4th stage.  I was given four months to live!  Eight other illnesses were also suspected.  But miracle after miracle occurred, astounding the physicians in three hospitals!  Jesus completely healed me!  I now have been given years of life in which to serve the Lord! God is a God of the impossible and He answers prayer. God gave me the courage to make one last effort.  I had to take a step toward Him, which I did and He ran to me like a lost child.  He has filled the void that I filled with drugs and alcohol.  He has given me purpose.  He is an awesome God. I have written a book ( above title ) about Him & me.
