In her late teens and twenty’s, Katie Souza was a radio disc jockey, model and actress, working full time in Hollywood, California. Besides doing movies and television pilots, Katie was featured on Telshop, a home shopping network, which was seen by millions of people across the country everyday. Unfortunately, though it looked as though Katie was living a successful life, she was really walking a path of total destruction. Katie was a drug addict. By her late twenty’s, her addiction was so powerful that she dropped out of the entertainment business completely and became a full time meth cook and career criminal. Her life consisted of clandestine laboratories, stolen vehicles, high-speed chases, gun shootouts, and many arrests. When she was finally grabbed by the Federal Marshals in February of 1999, she was at the end of her rope. Katie was sentenced to twelve and a half years in federal prison. Thankfully, the pressures of her circumstances finally drove her home into the arms of God. Immediately upon her arrest, the Holy Spirit gave her a hunger for the Word. She spent hours in her cell reading through the Bible over and over. Within a short time, Katie, along with four other women, formed a Christian fellowship within the prison. Then in 2001, a miracle happened. Six months before her Federal appeal was heard in court, the Lord told Katie exactly when her release date would be. When her appeal was approved in July of 2002, seven years were taken off her sentence and the release date the Lord gave her came to pass! While still in prison, Katie began writing “The Captivity Series- the Key to your Expected End”, a study which takes ancient Israel’s journey in, through and out of exile and directly paralleled it to the incarceration experience inmates go through today. Throughout her study, Katie created page-turning excitement for her readers by interweaving her miraculous prison story into each teaching. The ultimate goal of “The Captivity Series” is to teach every prisoner how to take possession of their God created purpose through the vehicle of their captivity. God has a special purpose planned for each one of His incarcerated people. This purpose is called an “Expected End” (Jeremiah 29:11). Everyone was created by God to do specific works but few people ever discover what those good works are. “The Captivity Series – the Key to your Expected End” shows prisoners how their captivity is specifically designed by God to prepare them for their future assignment, then systematically instructs its’ readers on how to take possession of their purpose. Because Katie has taken hold of her own created purpose, she is now living a life she once only dreamed of. Her desire is for all of God’s captive people to take hold of their created purpose during their incarceration so they too can receive the wonderful inheritance God has for them. Until now, no one has ever thought that prison could be used to give a person their wildest dreams! Well, Katie Souza’s “Captivity Series” is changing all that. Since her release in 2001, Katie has started Expected End Ministries and her book is now in 85 prisons in 40 states across America. It is also being translated into Spanish and Arabic.
