I am a Haitian national by birth. My father was a voodoo priest who prepared me to follow in his footsteps. But God had a different plan for my life. Unable to support our family, my father put me on a boat bound for America. When I arrived in Miami, some Haitian-Americans gave me a place to stay. They also were into voodoo. Over time I got involved with them in dealing drugs, stealing and other crime. I'm now serving a 45 year sentence in Florida.
At Henry C.I., I went to an evangelistic crusade held on the recreation field. The preacher said, "Jesus is faithful to forgive us all our sins." They gave me a gospel tract that I kept reading over and over. It said if anyone comes to Christ, he is a new creation - the old is gone and the new has come (2 Cor. 5:17). It talked about how Jesus is always knocking on man's heart door, waiting to be let in (Rev. 3:20). God called me to humble myself and seek His face and turn from my sins - and He promised to hear my prayer and forgive me (2 Chron. 7:14). I prayed and asked God to save me from my sins through Jesus Christ. I felt a great burden release me and I cried for joy. The next day I told the chaplain about how I got saved. He opened his Bible and explained how all my sins were gone, paid for in Christ's blood - forever. Emanual Bellefluer, Cross City C.I., Florida |
