WITH OR WITHOUT GOD Like many people, I prayed to God only when I was in serious trouble, figuring it was better to be safe than sorry. I had never gone to a church or sought a personal relationship with God. What did I need God for? Without God, I obtained an accounting position with the Space and Defense Systems Group in California. Without God I became the Communications and Technology manager at a Los Angeles area chamber of commerce. I rubbed elbows with the city’s most visible business professionals. Without God I started a consulting business. I was mentioned in national publications, and my reputation grew throughout the profession. Without God I got greedy and I did whatever it took to get more money and visibility. Without God I committed felonies in six states. Eventually I was charged with 300 separate crimes. I spent my 28th birthday in prison. My cellmate convinced me to attend a Christian revival at the prison. The turning point came when one of the volunteers testified about her experience in finding the Lord. So on my 28th birthday, God forgave the mistakes I made in life. He wiped the slate clean, and through His grace He offered a new life. Aaron W., Washington |
